The Nikon 70-210mm f4 Series E telephoto zoom lens was introduced by Nikon in 1982 as a lower cost alternative to the Nikkor 80-200mm. This easily-handled zoom lens has a single ring for controlling both zoom and focus, making it a fast lens to operate. It has a separate macrofocus adjustment that provides focusing down to 1.8ft. Nikon used its NIC multi-layer coatings on this lens so that it performs well despite its budget market targeting. This lens has a 62mm filter thread.
As with all Series E lenses, this lens has the AIS version of the Nikon F lens mount and is best suited for Nikon cameras that accept AI or AIS lenses. It lacks the coupling prong to be fully compatible with older Non-AI cameras, though it can still be used on those cameras if stop-down metering is carried out or with camera bodies that are not using TTL meters.
